President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the United States is capable of forcing Russia to end the war against Ukraine and expressed hope for effective Washington mediation. The Ukrainian leader's statement came amid media reports regarding US President Donald Trump's plans to organize the signing of a peace agreement.

Ukraine's Position on the Peace Process and the G20 Summit

The Head of the Ukrainian state emphasized that Kyiv relies on a proactive role by the United States in ending the war. According to him, the primary task remains halting the hot phase of the conflict, after which the parties can proceed to discuss security guarantees and long-term peace conditions. Earlier, The Atlantic, citing advisers to the US leader, reported that Donald Trump aims to conclude a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia during the G20 summit scheduled for December in Florida.

According to this data, the American leader allegedly plans to personally stand between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian leadership during the document's signing. Commenting on these initiatives, Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared the Ukrainian side's readiness to join the meeting in Florida should an official invitation be extended for the relevant format within the G20 summit. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader noted that Kyiv has not yet received such signals from Washington, but continues to count on them.

Diplomatic Efforts and Parties' Contacts

Meanwhile, international defense and diplomatic agencies are registering increased discussions around potential negotiation formats. According to Ukrainian media reports, Moscow is allegedly expressing readiness to return to dialogue with the participation of Ukraine and the United States. In addition, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff during recent contacts in the Russian capital stated that prerequisites for establishing a ceasefire exist and delivered corresponding proposals.

In parallel, the Ukrainian side continues dialogue with American partners regarding the strengthening of critical infrastructure defense capabilities. In particular, topics of supplying additional missile defense systems and potential agreements on a mutual halt to strikes on energy facilities under reliable international security guarantees are being raised.

Significance of Potential Initiatives for Conflict Resolution

The prospect of American mediation and potential peace initiatives by Washington establish new frameworks for the diplomatic process amid ongoing large-scale escalation. The ability of key international actors to formulate viable mechanisms for a ceasefire will determine the future security architecture in the region. Moving from declarations of intent to concrete negotiation formats will require aligning the positions of all participants, including strict requirements for security guarantees for Ukraine and compliance with future agreements.
