The United States is preparing a significant reinforcement of its military presence in Israel. Against the backdrop of the escalating conflict with Iran and the risk of the confrontation turning into a full-scale war, Washington is sending additional aerial refueling tankers to the region.
Strengthening logistics and equipment deployment
According to a senior representative of the Israeli Defense Forces, the US side plans to transfer equipment that will supplement the aircraft already present in the country. This decision was made by the administration of President Donald Trump, which informed Tel Aviv of plans to deploy dozens of new aircraft.
A key feature of the new deployment strategy will be an attempt to minimize the impact on civil aviation. Previously, a significant accumulation of military equipment at Ben Gurion International Airport led to a reduction in passenger traffic by approximately 70%. To avoid a recurrence of the situation, some of the new aircraft will be based directly at Israeli Air Force airfields, rather than at the civilian hub.
Context of escalation
The transfer of aviation is taking place against the backdrop of a critical deterioration in relations between the US and Iran following the collapse of the temporary ceasefire. In recent days, the parties have actively exchanged strikes, raising the tension to a dangerous level.
By the end of June, 98 US military aircraft were already in Israel, having arrived after the resumption of hostilities at the end of February. New deliveries of tankers are intended to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the air group in the event of a potential expansion of the conflict.
