On the night of July 20, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) was forced to resume military operations against Iran. This marks the ninth consecutive night of American strikes on Iranian targets. This was officially announced by the CENTCOM press office on the social network X.
New wave of attacks
According to the command, the new series of strikes began at 19:00 Eastern Time (02:00 Kyiv time). The objective of the operation remains to weaken Tehran's military capabilities, which, according to the US, are being used to attack merchant vessels and civilian sailors passing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Escalation of the conflict
The situation in the region sharply deteriorated in the first half of July, when the US and Iran began exchanging strikes. The trigger was an attack by Iranian forces on several merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Washington launched counter-strikes, leading to the resumption of regular hostilities between the parties.
Following the first attack on a vessel, US President Donald Trump officially stated that the ceasefire between the countries had been terminated. In turn, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday that it would no longer comply with the terms of the ceasefire memorandum.
Casualties on both sides
According to the latest data from the command, the US has already lost at least three servicemen during the new exchange of strikes. The conflict continues to develop, and both sides are demonstrating a readiness for further escalation.
