Ukrainian striker Bohdan Viunnyk continues his career in the Polish championship, but is changing his club affiliation: the 24-year-old forward has officially joined the country's most decorated club — Warsaw's Legia. This is reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the official website of the capital's club. At the presentation, held in the Legia museum among the cups and trophies, Viunnyk posed in a jersey bearing the name "VIUNNYK" and the number 27, along with the sponsor inscription "FORTUNA".

Deal details: loan and buy option

According to the official announcement, Legia signed the Ukrainian on a loan deal until the end of the 2026/27 season. The agreement also includes an option to purchase the player's contract, which, according to Polish media, is valued in the range of 700 to 800 thousand euros. Thus, the capital club gets the chance to assess the striker over the course of the season and, if circumstances work out well, complete a full transfer.

Statistics at Lechia and the reason for his departure

Viunnyk played for Gdansk's Lechia from March 2024 and during that time made 61 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists. In the current season he has not played a single match for the Gdansk side, as he insisted on a change of club. Notably, in the summer Lechia was taken over by Ukrainian coach Vladyslav Lupashko, but this did not prevent the forward from pushing for a move to a more ambitious project.

Career and the scandal with Shakhtar

Over the course of his career, the 24-year-old striker has played for Mariupol, Switzerland's Zurich and Austria's Grazer, and also went through the system of Donetsk's Shakhtar. His move to Poland in 2024 was accompanied by a loud scandal: Viunnyk unilaterally terminated his contract with the "miners", which led the Donetsk club to file a claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Now the forward will try to make his name in the squad of the 15-time Polish champion; the Transfermarkt portal values his market price at 500 thousand euros.

Contradictory data

In the publications, some sources describe the deal as a full "transfer", whereas Legia's official announcement records a loan with a buy option until the end of the 2026/27 season. Moreover, the buy option amount (700–800 thousand euros according to Polish media) noticeably exceeds the player's market valuation on Transfermarkt (500 thousand euros), which reflects the gap between the market price and the clubs' negotiating position. Both versions coexist in the information space, and the final financial terms of the deal may be clarified once the paperwork is completed.
