Vladimir Sharan, head coach of FC 'Alexandria', commented on the team's preparation for the new season, which will take place in the First League. The specialist admitted that the off-season was difficult due to tight deadlines and the need to bolster the squad with new players.
Preparation challenges and personnel changes
According to Sharan, the team did not have enough time during pre-season training camps to fully implement tactical developments. Despite the arrival of many new footballers at the club, the coach is dissatisfied that not all planned tasks could be completed in full.
"At the meeting, I am not satisfied with everything. Because, along with the fact that many new players arrived, we did not have enough time. Therefore, not everything I wanted was implemented. Have we filled all positions? Official games will show," noted the coach.
The reason for the reduction in preparation time was the play-off matches for the right to stay in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL), which the 'city dwellers' lost to 'Levyi Bereh' in a two-legged tie. Additional games in early June significantly shortened the period for adapting new players and physical preparation.
New season and first match
Alexandria will spend the 2026/2027 season in the First League. After relegation, the club significantly updated its squad. Vladimir Sharan took charge of the team in March 2026, replacing Kyrylo Nesterenko, with whom the team failed to escape the relegation zone.
The first round of the new championship has already started. Today, 'Alexandria' will play against Ternopil's 'Nyva'. The match will start at 16:00, and a live broadcast is available on the PFL YouTube channel.
