On August 10, 2026, in Kyiv, at the new Art Ukraine Gallery space, the large-scale exhibition «Voliu Miru» (I Will Peace) continues. The project, which has become a significant event in the capital's cultural life, represents a unique fusion of art and philosophy created by father and son — Oleg and Alexander Denysenko. The exhibition, opened on August 5, displays about 50 works, dominated by an innovative technique patented by the artists.
Gesography: a new era of Ukrainian art
The central discovery of the exhibition is the technique the authors call "gesography." This is not just a blending of genres, but a fundamentally new artistic method in which sculpture, engraving, and painting are united on a single plane. The creation process begins with a relief and a line pressed into the surface. Then, the indentations are filled with paint, over which semi-transparent layers of vegetable oil are applied.
Thanks to this technology, light penetrates the surface and reflects from the depths, creating an effect of living luminescence. Depending on the viewing angle and distance, the viewer may perceive the work either as flat graphics or as a volumetric sculpture. The exhibition features 28 such gesographies, each dedicated to a specific image, virtue, or life credo.
Modern Ukrainian epic and symbolism
The exhibition curator, Natalia Zabolotna, notes that the works of the Denysenkos form a kind of modern Ukrainian epic. This is not a classic tale of feats, but a collection of characters to which the viewer can pay attention and find a resonance within themselves. The canvases intertwine biblical images, legendary heroes, and historical figures — from emperors and knights to Cossack "characterizers" (harakternyky).
The central themes of the exhibition are named freedom and love. A special place is occupied by the work "Successful Hunt," depicting a Hutsul over a killed bear. The symbolic twist of the plot is that the weapon in the hero's hands turns into part of nature: flowers sprout from the gun, the spear is entwined by a stem, and a bird has built a nest on the hat. Oleg Denysenko describes this as a metaphor for a person capable of defending their freedom with force but consciously choosing peace when the threat has passed.
Architecture of space and light
The gallery space itself plays an important role in the perception of the exhibition. Giant semi-transparent veils with five-meter prints of Oleg Denysenko's works divide the exhibition. These elements do not isolate the works but, on the contrary, leave the space open. Through the fabric, the works, light, gallery architecture, and silhouettes of other visitors are visible. The viewer passes through six semantic spaces, creating an effect of immersion in a multi-layered story.
Global context and the end of the exhibition
The project «Voliu Miru» is not a local phenomenon. Over the past five years, it has already been exhibited in New York, Luxembourg, Düsseldorf, Warsaw, and Antwerp. The Kyiv exhibition has become an important stage in the artists' international tour. The exhibition is open daily from 09:00 to 21:00 at the address: Dniprovskyi Descent, 1. Admission is free, however, the exhibition can be visited only until August 18 inclusive, after which the gallery will close this season.
