On Sunday, November 1, a drop in water pressure in the networks was recorded in four districts of Kyiv: Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi. According to Kyivvodokanal, the cause was the power outage of one of the capital's water supply facilities as a result of an enemy attack on energy infrastructure. Temporary water supply interruptions are possible in a number of buildings.

Cause: Power outage at a water supply facility

Kyivvodokanal clarifies that the strike on the city's energy infrastructure led to a loss of power at one of the water utility facilities. Without electricity, pumping and technological units cannot maintain normal pressure, causing the pressure in the distribution network to drop. This is a typical system reaction to such situations: the operation of the water supply directly depends on the state of the power grids.

Affected districts

The drop in water pressure was recorded in Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts. The enterprise warns that temporary water supply interruptions are possible in certain residential buildings. Residents are advised to take this information into account when planning household tasks and to stock up on the necessary volume of water in advance.

When water supply will be restored

According to Kyivvodokanal, pressure in the network will begin to stabilize after power is restored to the de-energized facility. Full restoration of the water supply will require additional time: after electricity is supplied, the system returns to its operating mode gradually, not instantly. Exact timelines depend on the pace of energy supply restoration work.

Context: Emergency power outages

The water situation is taking place against the backdrop of broader energy supply problems. On the morning of November 1, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv, caused by the consequences of constant shelling of the capital's energy facilities by Russian troops. Thus, water supply interruptions are a consequence of the cascading impact of attacks on the city's energy infrastructure.
