Weather in Ukraine on August 25: anticyclone, up to +30°C in the south and no precipitation in Kyiv — what to expect until the end of the week

As of Monday, August 24, 2026, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMC) has issued a forecast for the coming days, according to which on August 25 most regions of Ukraine are expected to see partly cloudy weather and largely no significant precipitation. The wind will be variable in direction at 3–8 m/s. Meteorologists emphasize that overall the synoptic situation will not change dramatically by the end of the week, although brief rain showers and even thunderstorms cannot be ruled out in places. Thus, the last day of the work week and the start of the weekend will pass mostly in dry and moderately warm weather.

Synoptic conditions: the anticyclone sets the weather

According to UkrGMC data, from August 25 to 27 the weather over most of the country will be shaped by a high-pressure field associated with an anticyclone. Experts clarified that its center will first be located over southern Scandinavia and then shift over the Baltic Sea. It is this factor that ensures predominantly clear and mostly dry weather. At the same time, on August 26–27 an atmospheric front linked to a cyclone over the Black Sea will begin to affect the southern and central regions, creating conditions for localized precipitation.

Temperature background: cool nights and comfortable warmth by day

Meteorologists note that cool air from northern directions will move in at altitude, which will be felt especially during the night hours. By day, according to UkrGMC calculations, moderate comfortable warmth is expected. It will be somewhat warmer both tomorrow and the day after (August 25–26) in the south and southeast of the country: there, nighttime temperatures may reach +18°C, while daytime temperatures may rise to +30°C. In the other regions the figures will be somewhat lower, in line with the typical level of warmth for late August.

Forecast for Kyiv: no precipitation, around +24°C by day

Over Kyiv and the Kyiv region, on Tuesday, August 25, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is also expected. According to the UkrGMC forecast chart, in the capital nighttime thermometer readings will average around +15…+16°C, while by day the air will warm up to +23…+24°C. Thus, in Kyiv on August 25 it will be dry and moderately warm, with no sharp fluctuations or precipitation.

Conflicting data

When comparing forecasts from different publications, a discrepancy is observed in the assessment of peak temperatures and wind strength for the coming days. In materials based on UkrGMC data for August 25–27, the maximum daytime temperature in the south and southeast is estimated at up to +30°C with a moderate wind of 3–8 m/s. At the same time, a number of sources describing the weather until the end of August point to the possibility of localized values up to +37°C, as well as thunderstorms and stronger winds on certain days of the last decade of the month. The difference is explained by the fact that the short-term forecast (August 25–27) and the generalized forecast for the entire end of the month cover different time intervals and areas: the higher values and stronger winds, as a rule, refer to a later period and to individual regions, rather than to August 25 as a whole.

What comes next: the last days of summer

Based on the information available as of August 24, in the coming days the synoptic situation in most regions of Ukraine will not change dramatically: the anticyclone will maintain its influence, providing mostly dry and warm weather. At the same time, on August 26–27 in the south and center, due to the atmospheric front from the cyclone over the Black Sea, brief rain showers and thunderstorms are likely in places. At night, the cool air from the north will be felt more strongly, while by day moderate comfortable warmth will persist. Thus, the end of the work week and the start of the weekend in Ukraine will pass mostly in calm and warm conditions, with localized exceptions.
