On November 7, a typically November, cool and humid weather is setting in across Ukraine. According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, sleet is expected in a number of regions, sometimes turning into rain, and the thermometer will drop to 0–6 degrees Celsius. The day will pass mostly under cloudy skies with sunny spells, however, light snow will fall in places in the central, southern and eastern regions, while in the south and east precipitation will take the form of rain. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to official data from forecasters.

Black ice in the north and center: morning risks for drivers

The situation on the roads deserves special attention. In the northern, central and eastern regions of Ukraine, black ice is forecasted in places on the morning of November 7. This means that at positive, but close to zero temperatures, the humid air will contribute to the formation of a thin crust of ice on the roadway, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. Forecasters recommend drivers to reduce speed, increase distance and refrain from sudden maneuvers, while pedestrians should choose non-slip shoes and avoid areas with ice patches.

Wind: gusts up to 18 m/s in the south

The wind during the day will blow from the northwest and north at a speed of 5–10 m/s. However, in the southern part of the country during daytime hours, gusts of 15–18 m/s are expected in places. Such wind combined with sleet and rain can create additional inconveniences: increase the feeling of cold, lift slush from the roadsides and complicate traffic movement. Residents of coastal and open areas of the southern regions should take this factor into account when planning walks and trips.

Kyiv and Kyiv region: a calm day without daytime precipitation

In the capital and Kyiv region on November 7, the weather will be milder than in most regions. Light snow has already fallen in places at night, but no precipitation is expected during the day. The sky will be variable — cloudy with sunny spells. The temperature in Kyiv will stay within a few degrees above zero, which allows for relatively comfortable, albeit cool conditions for outdoor activity. Nevertheless, morning black ice on individual sections of roads and sidewalks cannot be excluded.

Prospects for the coming days: precipitation will increase

Forecasters have previously warned that the weather in Ukraine will change even more noticeably in the coming days. An increase in precipitation is expected, and in a number of regions rain will be replaced by sleet. This means that November weather will establish itself in a cool and humid regime, and temperature indicators may decrease even further. Climatologists also comment on whether Ukraine is threatened by abnormal cold like last winter, but currently it is a standard cooling for early November, rather than record frosts.

Regional context: a similar picture in Belarus and the Samara region

The weather conditions on November 7, 2026, in Ukraine are not an isolated phenomenon. In Belarus, according to the Republican Center for Hydrometeorology, since November 4, rains have turned into sleet against the background of intensifying advection of cold arctic air masses, and night lows range from minus 4 to plus 6 degrees. In the Samara region of Russia, according to the Volga UGMS, from November 5 to 7, the region is also in the grip of snow and sleet, with black ice in places, at night temperatures from minus 1 to minus 6 degrees. Thus, the cooling and transition to mixed precipitation are characteristic of a wide region of Eastern Europe in the first decade of November 2026.
