Messenger WhatsApp has released a major update aimed at transforming group chats from simple communication tools into full-fledged coordination platforms. Developers have introduced three key features designed to simplify communication in large communities and work teams.

Mention all feature

The most noticeable innovation is the ability to notify all group members with a single tag. Now users can use the @everyone command, which instantly notifies every chat member, regardless of whether they have notifications disabled.

This mechanism comes from the ecosystem of corporate messengers like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Discord, where similar commands (e.g., "here" or "everyone") have become the standard for quickly gathering audience attention.

Advanced poll features

The toolset for conducting votes in chats has received a significant update. Now poll organizers have full control over the opinion collection process thanks to three new parameters:

  • Voting timer: The administrator can set a specific end time for the poll. Once the set period expires, answer submission is automatically blocked, allowing results to be fixed by a specific date.
  • Anonymity: An option to hide the names of voters has been added. This allows participants to express their opinions more honestly and without fear of judgment from other group members.
  • Editing: In case of an error in the question wording, the administrator gets a 15-minute window to correct or clarify it without needing to delete and recreate the poll.

Instant subgroup creation

To address the problem of information noise in large chats, WhatsApp has introduced a quick subgroup creation feature. Users can now select the necessary contacts from the general list with one click and start a separate conversation with them.

This function allows for discussing niche topics or organizing events without overloading the main chat with unnecessary information. The side conversation is created instantly, preserving context and participants, but isolating the discussion from the main message stream.
