As of August 2026, Ukraine's labor market exhibits noticeable regional disparities. According to a recent study by analysts at the OLX Work platform, the structure of demand for personnel and the level of wages differ drastically depending on the region's geographical location, security situation, and the specifics of the local economy.

Capital Leadership and Central Region Specifics

As expected, Kyiv Oblast remains the country's most active economic center, recording a record number of both open vacancies and applicant responses. Specifically, in the retail and procurement sector in the capital region, there were over 6.5 thousand job offers, with the median salary reaching a nationwide high of 29.7 thousand hryvnias. Production and blue-collar specialties hold a confident second place in the capital, with a median income of about 35 thousand hryvnias.

At the same time, in the central and northern oblasts of Ukraine—Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Chernihiv—manufacturing and production professions have become the absolute priority for employers. Median salaries for such specialists in these regions range between 25-29 thousand hryvnias, second only to offers in logistics, warehousing, and delivery sectors, where workers are offered from 28 to 32 thousand hryvnias.

Western Oblasts: Logistics vs. Manufacturing

The situation in the country's western regions is characterized by high internal differentiation. Thus, in Volyn, Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Ternopil oblasts, the logistics, warehousing, and delivery sector has become the key hiring driver. In Zakarpattia, the number of such vacancies grew by 13% over the year, and median logistics salaries in western regions ranged from 33 to 40 thousand hryvnias depending on the region.

On the other hand, in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts, employers are most in need of manufacturing specialists. In Lviv Oblast, demand for such workers demonstrated an impressive 35% year-on-year growth. Chernivtsi Oblast stands out as an exception to the general western trend, with retail and sales leading in the number of open positions.

Southern Outposts and Frontline Territories

In the south and southeast of Ukraine, hiring volumes are constrained by security factors; however, economic activity remains concentrated around Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. Manufacturing specialties and logistics dominate in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa oblasts, with Odesa showing a 9% increase in manufacturing vacancies at median salaries ranging from 26 to 30 thousand hryvnias.

In the frontline Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts, the logistics industry has come to the fore, with an increase in job offers of 8% and 11% respectively. Additionally, Kherson Oblast retains a specific demand for personnel in tourism and the hospitality sector (HoReCa), where the median salary stands at around 13 thousand hryvnias.

Contradictory Data

Analyzing the recovery dynamics of the eastern and northern regions, experts note certain methodological discrepancies in assessing business activity rates. While Sumy Oblast demonstrates restrained or even negative overall dynamics compared to last year, neighboring Kharkiv Oblast shows confident growth: manufacturing vacancies increased by 9%, trade by 11%, and logistics by 5%. At the same time, Sumy Oblast recorded a record local jump in construction sector wages (by 19% to 30 thousand hryvnias), whereas in Kharkiv, HoReCa workers led in income growth rates with a 16% pay increase.
