The updated Air Raid Alert mobile application in Ukraine now displays the movement trajectories of cruise missiles, Shahed-type attack drones, and guided aerial bombs (KABs), whereas ballistic targets will not be shown on the interactive map. This was stated by Yurii Ihnat, Head of Communications for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the RBC-Ukraine podcast «TZE BAZA», explaining the technological and security limitations of the developed format.

Features of Target Display in the Updated Service

According to the Air Force representative, all information regarding aerial objects comes directly from military systems, including the «Virazh-Planshet» complex. Instead of a standard map with colored regions, users can now see conditional target markers with detailed information on the flight region, current speed, and movement vector. At the same time, the application will not display ballistic missiles because, due to their immense flight speed, technical tracking and visualization in the civilian segment are impractical.

Balancing Data Openness and Military Security

Developers and military specialists held numerous discussions to find the optimal balance between informing the public and security requirements. Data in the civilian application is deliberately presented in a limited and somewhat generalized form so as not to harm Ukraine's defense forces or provide the enemy with valuable navigational intelligence. Unlike civilian software, Ukrainian service members use specialized highly detailed systems such as Skymap, «Virazh-Planshet», and the Delta system.

Technical Launch and Impact on the Information Field

Currently, the updated version of the application is operating in a test mode. At the initial launch, due to the simultaneous connection of millions of users, short-term technical failures and traffic overloads were recorded, but these issues have now been successfully resolved. The Air Force Command notes that the innovation will also reduce the load on official information channels, although prompt warnings about ballistic threats will continue to be published directly for safety reasons.

Significance of the Update for the Alert System

The appearance of an interactive map in the application marks a new stage in informing the civilian population about aerial threats. This tool makes alerts more visual, reducing the level of uncertainty for citizens during air raid alerts. At the same time, strict data filtering demonstrates the priority of security over publicity, guaranteeing the protection of state interests amid ongoing hostilities.
