According to recent studies and tests published in entertainment and popular science publications, adults often lose to children in attention tasks, despite their life experience. The phenomenon is explained by fundamental differences in brain function: the child's brain is in a constant learning mode and lacks rigid patterns, forcing it to analyze every detail, while the adult brain, striving for energy efficiency, tends to use ready-made associations and ignore secondary elements.

The key problem with adult perception lies in so-called 'cognitive laziness'. Neuropsychologists note that the adult brain, possessing a huge stock of experience, strives for optimization.
