Dynamo Kyiv captain Andriy Yarmolenko and defender Vladyslav Dubinchak personally visited Kudrivka winger Ivan Petryak in the hospital. The 32-year-old footballer continues his recovery after a serious head injury sustained in the head-to-head match between the two clubs. This is reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing Ivan Petryak's personal Instagram, where he published a joint photo with the Dynamo players and the caption: "Guys, thank you for your support."
How the Incident Happened
The injury occurred near the end of the first half of the recent game, which ended in a 3:1 victory for the "white-blues". During a fight for an aerial ball, Vladyslav Dubinchak and Ivan Petryak collided heads. The Dynamo player quickly regained consciousness and continued the game, whereas for the Kudrivka winger, the consequences were much more severe: after the collision, Petryak tried to get up but immediately grabbed his head and lost consciousness.
First Aid and Diagnosis
The medical staff of both clubs, together with an ambulance team, promptly provided first aid to the player right on the pitch, stabilizing his neck. The 32-year-old veteran was carried off the field on a stretcher and immediately taken to the hospital. The athlete was diagnosed with damage to the bone part of the skull.
Condition and Return Prospects
According to the source, doctors made sure there were no complications and transferred the footballer from intensive care to a regular ward. Nevertheless, the exact dates of his return to the pitch remain unknown, and it is premature to talk about specific recovery timelines.
Gesture of Sports Brotherhood
The visit by Yarmolenko and Dubinchak became a telling gesture of mutual respect between opponents. It was Dubinchak who turned out to be the unwitting participant in the incident, and his personal presence in the ward, alongside the Kyiv captain, emphasizes that off the pitch, the players treat each other primarily as colleagues. For Petryak himself, who recently survived one of the most difficult episodes of his career, such support during rehabilitation is of particular importance.
