The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has warned of unstable weather expected in the country on July 14. Despite the air warming up to comfortable summer values, forecasters predict thunderstorms and short-term rains across almost the entire territory of the state.

Thunderstorms and wind: daily forecast

According to the center, the sky will be predominantly cloudy with clearings. Precipitation will cover the entire country during the day, as well as the Right Bank at night. The only exceptions are the southern and eastern regions, where rain is not expected at night.

The wind will blow predominantly from the northwest at a speed of 5–10 m/s. The daytime temperature will range from +23 to +28 degrees Celsius, while at night the air will cool down to +14–19 degrees.

Special forecast for Kyiv and Kyiv region

The capital and the region will also fall into the zone of unstable weather. In Kyiv, the temperature at night will be +17–19°C, and during the day the air will warm up to +25–27°C. In the Kyiv region, the figures will correspond to the national forecast: at night +14–19°C, during the day +23–28°C.

The deterioration of weather conditions in the capital began the day before, when a yellow alert level was declared due to the threat of thunderstorms and gusty winds. The situation remains the same today.

Yellow alert level

In connection with the predicted thunderstorms and heavy rains, forecasters have declared a first-level warning — yellow. This means that citizens should be vigilant, avoid staying under trees and advertising structures during precipitation, and keep an eye on weather forecasts.

Context: heatwave in Europe

While Ukraine is expecting changeable weather with thunderstorms, Europe is experiencing an abnormal heatwave. According to data from the end of June, due to extremely high temperatures on the continent, about 10,000 people died. Fatal outcomes were recorded mainly among vulnerable groups of the population, for whom overheating became fatal.
