Ukraine is expected to experience intensified thunderstorm activity affecting a significant portion of the country. According to the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, adverse weather will cover most central and southern regions, as well as the Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts, over the next 24 hours.
Dangerous Weather Phenomena
Meteorologists forecast moderate rain and thunderstorms in the specified regions. The situation may worsen during the day: heavy precipitation accompanied by hail is expected in some areas. Of particular concern are the predicted wind gusts, which could reach speeds of 15–20 m/s in certain areas.
No precipitation is expected in the rest of the country. Winds will blow predominantly from the north, and from the west in the western and northern regions, at speeds of 5–10 m/s. Temperatures in western Ukraine will remain within the range of 20–25 °C.
Impact on Infrastructure
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about dangerous meteorological phenomena expected on July 21. Experts note that current weather conditions could significantly complicate operations in various sectors:
- Energy companies may face overloads and risks of accidents on power lines.
- Construction work, especially at heights, will be hindered by strong winds.
- Utility services will be forced to operate in an enhanced mode to clear up the aftermath.
- Transportation may be disrupted due to reduced visibility and poor road conditions.
Weather in Kyiv
The situation in the capital of Ukraine and the Kyiv region will be calmer. Variable cloudiness without precipitation is forecast. The wind will be westerly, moderate, at 5–10 m/s.
This is not the first warning about bad weather this month. Earlier, the consequences of powerful thunderstorms that occurred on July 19 were recorded in Ukraine, which also caused gusts and downpours.
