A night wave of strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure has once again affected Zaporizhzhia. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the enemy struck the territory of a shopping center in the city, damaging the building. Footage released by the RMA shows that the target was the Epicenter construction supermarket, which caught fire after the attack. Fedorov also reported that, preliminarily, one person was injured and requires medical assistance.
Fire at Epicenter and the condition of the injured
The situation at the scene developed rapidly: after the building was hit, a fire broke out, requiring the work of fire crews. According to several Ukrainian media outlets, the fire engulfed a significant part of the premises, which is typical for large retail facilities with a high concentration of flammable materials and stock. The officially confirmed list of casualties at the time of publication remains limited: the RMA's initial statement mentions one person requiring medical help, while other outlets report a higher number of injured, creating a discrepancy in the figures.
Series of night strikes: Nova Poshta and production
The attack on Epicenter was part of a broader series of night strikes on logistics and production facilities. As RBC-Ukraine previously reported, overnight Russia struck Nova Poshta warehouses in Zaporizhzhia; while firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, the enemy carried out a follow-up strike. According to available information, the attacks also damaged a production site. Meanwhile, in Sumy, an enemy attack destroyed a Nova Poshta sorting center, with no staff injuries reported as of the time of publication.
Contradictory data
There is a notable discrepancy between sources on the number of casualties. In the initial statement by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia RMA, cited by RBC-Ukraine, it is stated that "preliminarily, one person was injured and requires medical attention." At the same time, the publication pravda.com.ua reports four injured as a result of the follow-up strike on Epicenter. The difference in figures (one versus four) may be explained by the fact that the data reflect different points in time: the initial summary records the first identified casualty, while subsequent reports account for additional calls for medical help. Until official data are clarified, both versions remain under consideration.
Context and consequences
Repeated strikes on the same facility within a short period, as well as attacks on Nova Poshta sorting centers and warehouses in different regions, indicate deliberate pressure on logistics and retail infrastructure. For the residents of Zaporizhzhia, this means not only direct destruction but also disruptions to the operation of major retail outlets and delivery services. Official bodies continue to clarify the list of casualties and the scale of the damage; as of the time of writing, the damage to the Epicenter building, the fire, and at least one injured person requiring medical assistance have been confirmed.
