Zaporizhzhia's largest shopping and entertainment complex — City Mall, managed by Arricano — has temporarily suspended operations for visitors. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the Association of Retailers of Ukraine, the complex will not be accepting guests until the end of September 2026. The decision was made against the backdrop of a deteriorating situation in the city and a rising number of attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Reason for the decision

Arricano explained that over the past month the enemy has significantly increased the number of strikes on civilian objects, particularly shopping complexes. A separate and, in effect, decisive factor was the strike on the "Epitsentr" hypermarket, which is located directly next to City Mall. It was precisely the proximity of the attacked object that made it impossible to continue operating the complex in the previous mode from a safety standpoint.

The decision to suspend operations fits into a broader picture of shelling of the city's infrastructure. Recall that on August 28, 2026, Russia struck the last operating "Epitsentr" hypermarket in Zaporizhzhia. On the same day, the enemy destroyed the "Khortytsia" spirits and vodka plant. A series of such attacks on retail and industrial facilities became the key argument for the management company in favor of a temporary closure.
