In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the 2026/2027 heating season will officially start on November 2. This was announced in his Telegram channel by Mykhailo Semykin, Acting Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, as cited by RBC-Ukraine. According to him, the region is 100% ready for heat supply: more than 4,500 residential buildings, 320 social institutions, 158 boiler houses, and over 500 kilometers of heating networks were prepared for winter. Thus, the region is entering the heating period with a complete set of prepared infrastructure, which, according to the authorities, guarantees uninterrupted heat supply for all categories of consumers.

Step-by-Step Launch: Up to Two Weeks for Full Connection

At the same time, the regional administration emphasizes that heat will not appear simultaneously in all houses and institutions on November 2. The connection of consumers will take place in stages, and the complete launch of the system may take up to two weeks. Priority in heat supply is given to social facilities — schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and other social sphere institutions. Only after their connection does the sequential switching on of residential buildings begin. According to Semykin, this procedure is standard for the safe startup of heating networks and helps minimize the risk of emergency situations on the main pipelines.

Risk of Technical Malfunctions and Round-the-Clock Operation of Services

The regional authorities do not rule out that technical malfunctions are possible in the first days after startup — ranging from local temperature drops to isolated outages in specific network sections. To respond promptly, utility services will operate around the clock. Semykin assured that all incoming appeals from residents will be tracked and considered in cooperation with city services. Residents who still do not have heating after the two-week startup period is over are recommended to contact the relevant telephone numbers published on the region's official resources.

Preparedness Dynamics: From 70% in September to 100% by November

It is worth noting that the assessment of the housing and communal services system's preparedness in Zaporizhzhia Oblast changed throughout the fall of 2026. As of September 28, according to TASS, the preparedness level of the regional housing and communal services system was 70%. Earlier, on September 4, the same publication reported that the region "will start the heating season on time and in full readiness" — that is, as a target indicator. By the end of October, when Semykin announced the final figures, the indicator reached 100%. Thus, over the three autumn months, utility services completed the remaining work on preparing boiler houses, flushing and pressure testing heating networks, as well as maintaining residential and social facilities.

Context: The Situation in Other Regions of Ukraine

The launch of the heating season in Zaporizhzhia Oblast fits into the general picture across the country. In Kyiv, for example, about a quarter of social sphere facilities were connected to heat during the first week of the heating season, followed by the step-by-step inclusion of residential quarters. In Odesa Oblast, authorities previously explained under what weather and technical conditions heating would be turned on in the region. Overall across Ukraine, the start of the 2026 heating season falls in late October and early November, which corresponds to climatic norms and approved infrastructure preparation schedules.
