Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the strengthening of Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region through the formation of two updated groupings. According to RBC-Ukraine, the head of state made the statement following a meeting with the military leadership, during which the procedure for further steps to reinforce the defensive lines in this direction was determined.
Meeting with Military Leadership and Frontline Visit
According to Zelensky, the decision on the order of further actions was made jointly with Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi, the General Staff, and Defense Minister Hennii Humanyuk. On the same day, the president, together with the military leadership, visited the Orikhiv direction, where he discussed the needs of the units and ways to enhance their combat capabilities. During the trip, the head of state thanked the defenders for their service and awarded a number of soldiers with state honors.
Commanders of the Updated Groupings
Command of the two updated groupings, which, according to the president's statement, will strengthen positions in the Donetsk region, has been entrusted to two military leaders awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine — Denys Prokopenko and Andriy Biletskyi. As noted in the statement, the title of Hero of Ukraine was conferred by the president on Independence Day to the commander of the Third Army Corps, Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi.
Specific Military Requests from the Units
At the meeting with the commanders, the practical needs of the units were discussed. Among the specific requests raised during the discussion were the supply of troops with unmanned systems, long-range artillery, and small radar stations. These items were recorded as priorities for further work on enhancing the combat capabilities of the groupings on the Donetsk direction.
Thus, the measure announced by the president represents an organizational update of the command structure on one of the key sections of the front, where, according to the military leadership's assessment, additional reinforcement is required through the redistribution of forces under the command of experienced commanders and the fulfillment of the material and technical requests of the units.
