Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported severe damage to the power grid and electricity transmission facilities as a result of recent Russian strikes. According to the head of state, restoration work at critical infrastructure sites is underway around the clock, but the scale of destruction requires significant external assistance and additional supplies of specialized equipment.
Energy Crisis and International Support
During a special meeting, the Ukrainian leader noted that relevant agencies have already updated the country's current needs for energy equipment and air defense packages. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the President's Office are actively preparing communication strategies to work with international partners, and Zelenskyy intends to hold a series of substantive talks with world leaders to speed up deliveries.
Criticism of City Authorities and Resilience Plans
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to compliance with deadlines for implementing resilience plans in the regions. The President harshly criticized the situation in the capital, stating that slowing down the work is completely unacceptable, and the responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and regional administrations is personal. Specific strict tasks were set regarding Kyiv due to the almost complete failure of the city authorities to take the necessary protective and preparatory steps.
Frontline Situation and Regional Measures
In addition to the energy agenda, the head of state heard reports from the Ministry of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the current situation at the front. The most tense situation persists in the Donetsk region in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Dobropillia, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk. Furthermore, the situation in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, was discussed, where the president instructed to prepare a full package of solutions by the end of the week following meetings with local residents.
