Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly confirmed that he discussed with former Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko the possibility of her appointment as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America. This became known during a conversation with journalists, reports RBC-Ukraine correspondent.
Plan for personnel appointments
The head of state noted that the question of Sviridenko's future is no longer a secret. Despite respect for the current ambassador, Olga Stefanishina, Zelenskyy admitted that he initially counted on Yulia Sviridenko to carry out this mission in Washington.
"We will return to Sviridenko. We have proposals. It is no longer a secret that, indeed, with all respect for Olga Stefanishina, it is no secret that I counted on and proposed Yulia Sviridenko for the position of ambassador to the US," the Ukrainian leader stated.
At the same time, the president has not yet revealed details of the former Prime Minister's reaction to this proposal. It remains unknown whether she accepted this challenge or intends to decline the vacancy.
Searching for a position for Rustem Umerov
Alongside the question of the embassy in the US, Zelenskyy reported on the search for a new position for another high-ranking official — Rustem Umerov. The President noted that he is currently in the stage of deliberation regarding what specific role to offer the former minister.
"I am thinking about it. We have a discussion with Rustem and with Yulia," the head of state added, confirming that the dialogue with both politicians continues.
