Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree awarding former Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th degree. The decision was made in recognition of her significant contribution to strengthening statehood, defending sovereignty, and developing the country's public life.
Recognition of Merits Before Resignation
According to the text of the decree, the award was granted for courage, selflessness, and conscientious fulfillment of professional duty. Notably, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, also received the same award — the Order of Yaroslav the Wise.
Government Reboot
The awarding took place against the backdrop of large-scale personnel changes in the government. On July 12, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his intention to reboot the Cabinet of Ministers. On the same day, he offered Yulia Sviridenko a new position — Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA. According to RBK-Ukraine sources, the former Prime Minister has not yet given her final consent to this offer.
On July 14, Sviridenko submitted her resignation, citing the need to update the composition of the government. Along with her, the entire Cabinet of Ministers automatically resigns, although most of the current ministers will likely retain their posts.
Who Could Become the New Prime Minister?
Serhiy Koretsky, head of Naftogaz, is being considered as a candidate to replace Yulia Sviridenko as Prime Minister. He is expected to meet with the Servant of the People faction to discuss his candidacy. The vote on the appointment of the new Prime Minister is scheduled for July 16.
Possible Changes in Ministries
It is not yet clear whether Mykhailo Fedorov will remain as Minister of Defense. Among the possible successors is the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko. Thus, in the coming days, the Ukrainian government may undergo significant changes that will affect not only the Prime Minister but also key ministries.
