Volodymyr Zelenskyy continued a series of strategic meetings with the military command, focusing on preparations for potential enemy actions in northern Ukraine and the strengthening of air defense. The President reported this in his Telegram channel, emphasizing that consultations with army corps commanders have become a key tool for assessing the current situation on the front lines.
Assessment of threats on the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis
Special attention during the meeting was paid to preparing for various scenarios of events on the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis. The Head of State noted that the reports are based on intelligence data, which records the constant search by Russian troops for additional ways to prolong and expand the conflict. The corps commanders analyzed the enemy's activity and assessed the capabilities of Ukrainian forces to counter new threats.
Defense of southern borders and the fight against drones
In addition to the northern direction, the participants of the meeting discussed in detail the issues of the defense of Kherson, as well as cities and communities of the Dnipropetrovsk region, in particular Nikopol. A critically important aspect was countering Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. The command reported on the need for additional support for the troops and the strengthening of frontline air defense to neutralize air threats.
Participants and agenda of the meeting
The meeting took place in the format of a dialogue with the commanders of key units. It was attended by the heads of the 9th, 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 18th, and 21st Army Corps, as well as the 30th Marine Corps. The President was accompanied by the Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Yarmak and the Deputy Head of the President's Office Pavlo Palitsa.
During the consultations, further steps were determined to continue the corps reform in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This meeting was a continuation of a series of meetings that Zelenskyy has been holding in recent days to analyze the situation on the most difficult sections of the front. Earlier, on July 20, the President had already discussed defense issues with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff Volodymyr Horbatiuk and the Commander of the Joint Forces Mykhailo Drapaty, as well as held a special session of the "General Staff" with the participation of arms manufacturers.
