Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an important statement regarding the plans of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The head of state confirmed that the agency will continue to conduct operations aimed at weakening Russia, while simultaneously carrying out a large-scale purge of its own ranks.
New tasks for the intelligence agency
On August 4, Volodymyr Zelenskyy listened to a report on current operations conducted to counter Russian aggression. According to the president, the SBU is demonstrating good results in this work. Based on the report, the head of state approved the conduct of new operations.
SBU Head Oleksandr Poklad presented the agency's priorities for August. Zelenskyy emphasized that these tasks are critically important for the protection of the state. Furthermore, he gave a direct instruction to the SBU leadership to carry out work on "cleaning the internal structure".
"I instructed the head of the SBU to take further steps to clean the internal structure of the Service of those who work for themselves, not for Ukraine," RBC-Ukraine quotes the president's statement.

The head of state's statement came against the backdrop of the completion of an important stage of the intelligence agency's work. It was on August 4 that the 40-day SBU operation to weaken Russia, previously initiated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, ended.
The effectiveness of the agency's work during this period is confirmed by specific facts. Recently, it became known how SBU employees struck three Russian oil refineries (ORs) in one night. The targets were located almost 1600 km from the take-off point, demonstrating high operational mobility and coordination of forces.

Against the backdrop of discussions on new operations and the concluding stage of the campaign, large-scale personnel reshuffles are taking place within the SBU. The president expressed gratitude to all employees of the service who are truly protecting the state and its citizens, distinguishing their work from the actions of those who, in Zelenskyy's opinion, are pursuing personal interests.
