Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have held a meeting in Brussels. The contact took place on the sidelines of the European Council summit and focused on the further course of support for Kyiv amid the ongoing war with Russia, according to RBC.ua.

Poland's position: sanctions and military aid

Following the talks, the Polish side stated that Ukraine will not be left alone with Russian aggression, and anything that could help Moscow in this war is unacceptable for Europe. In particular, Tusk emphasized that there are no grounds to ease sanctions against Russia or to allow the financing of its military machine. The prime minister assured of unwavering further cooperation and stated that Kyiv can count on Poland, on him personally, and on the European Union.

'Secret' aid and ammunition

The Ukrainian side thanked Warsaw for its political and military-technical support, specifically mentioning non-public steps. 'What you did... Well, sometimes it has to stay between the two of us. But we are grateful because it is very difficult to defend our country, the capital, from massive attacks. And we are grateful for this, as well as for 20mm ammunition and other things,' Zelenskyy said, without disclosing the details of these measures.

Diplomatic context

The meeting took place against the backdrop of broader diplomatic discussions. Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will not capitulate in view of recent actions and statements by US President Donald Trump. At the same time, it became known that a number of European leaders intend to urge the Ukrainian president to soften public criticism of the American leader. Thus, the Brussels contact with Poland fits into the general context of seeking a European consensus on supporting Kyiv.
