Zhytomyr City Hospital No. 1 has received a modern system for continuous remote fetal cardiomonitoring, the Smart Station L8T32. The equipment was delivered under the 'New Lives' program of the 'Okhmatdet – Healthy Childhood' Charitable Foundation, with financial support from the 'Apteka 9-1-1' pharmacy chain. As RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the company's press service, the new system will allow doctors in the maternity ward to continuously monitor the fetus's condition during labor, promptly identify potential risks, and quickly respond to changes in indicators.
What is the Smart Station L8T32
The Smart Station L8T32 is a wireless cardiomonitoring system that allows medical staff to remotely observe the heart activity of one or two fetuses. A small sensor is attached to the mother's abdomen, so the woman is not tethered to cables and can move freely during labor. The system automatically alerts the doctor to any changes in indicators, which is critically important for timely intervention. According to Larchenko, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the maternity ward of Zhytomyr Hospital, the equipment "performs high-quality diagnostics — timely and accurate, without errors," and remote monitoring is especially useful in twin births.
Why Zhytomyr Hospital Needs This Equipment
Zhytomyr City Hospital No. 1 handles approximately 500 deliveries each year. The ward also treats patients with complex comorbid conditions that increase the risks to the health of the mother and the child. Under such circumstances, continuous monitoring of the fetus's condition and the ability to quickly respond to changes become especially important. As the medical team notes, the birth of a child should be a moment of joy, not a situation in which doctors have to work with limited diagnostic capabilities.
The 'New Lives' Program: From a Local Project to a Nationwide Scale
The 'New Lives' program of the 'Okhmatdet – Healthy Childhood' Foundation provides not only the delivery of equipment but also comprehensive support for maternity wards: equipping delivery rooms, supplying monitoring technology, training medical teams, and developing specific areas of care. The head of the foundation's supervisory board, Vitvitska, reported that the project has been scaled up to a nationwide level. Similar equipment has already been installed at a hospital in Lviv, and next in line are the Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions. Special priority is given to frontline cities, which are in urgent need of support.

For the 'Apteka 9-1-1' chain, supporting the 'New Lives' program is a continuation of its partnership with the foundation and part of the company's systematic charitable activities aimed at helping children and developing Ukrainian healthcare. The company's Director of Corporate Communications noted that watching the equipment in action during labor is "overwhelming with emotion" and motivates further cooperation with the 'Okhmatdet – Healthy Childhood' Foundation. Previously, 'Apteka 9-1-1' also supported the development of aquatic rehabilitation for children at 'Okhmatdet.'
