🇯🇵 13-year-old Japanese schoolboy Ryoya Sugimoto made a sensational discovery by finding a new species of marine organism! 👁️ In 2018, the boy noticed strange jellyfish near the pier that did not match any known species. Thanks to his hobby and cooperation with scientists from NOAA (USA), he helped describe a new species — Orchistoma integrale. 🧬 It is called the 'integral jellyfish' because of the shape of its reproductive organs, which resemble the integral sign. Despite the name, it is a hydroid animal, not a 'true' jellyfish. Ryoya's story proves: science begins with curiosity! 🔬🌊 #Science #Japan #Jellyfish #Discovery #Biology #CitizenScience
