Italian conglomerate Leonardo is deepening defense cooperation with Ukraine through its Kyiv-based unit Leonardo Ukraine: a trial of the Michelangelo air defense system is planned by the end of 2026, while the Bromo space project with Airbus and Thales is set to operate at full capacity from 2028.

Italian defense conglomerate Leonardo has registered a subsidiary 'Leonardo Ukraine' in Kyiv for defense R&D. The move brings the group closer to Ukrainian drones, missile armament, and testing of the 'Michelangelo Dome' air defense system.
