According to Politico, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed more than 500 Ukrainian locomotives, and since autumn 2025 has been deliberately attacking passenger trains with mesh-network drones, extending strikes to western regions.

On 17 September, Kyiv City Express urgently rerouted its trains after a night attack that damaged Nyzhynska Slobodka station and Ukrainian Railways facilities. By 11:15 the restrictions had been lifted and the recovery work was complete.

On the morning of September 13, Russia carried out a strike near the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Yagodina area, hitting railway infrastructure. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry called on allies to impose full sanctions.

On the afternoon of August 22, Russia launched a massive strike on the Poltava district: railway infrastructure was damaged, drones attacked a shopping center and a cooperative, and there were repeated hits on the location where rescuers were working. There is currently no data on casualties.

🚆 Ukrzaliznytsia has suspended ticket sales on certain routes due to the aftermath of attacks on infrastructure. The company is restructuring logistics and schedules. Exact dates for resuming sales are currently unknown. #Ukraine #Railway #Safety
