Breakthrough in Fusion Energy: US Funds Creation of a 'Fuel Factory' for Reactors
🇺🇸 The US has awarded grants to Kyoto Fusioneering to create the Unity-3 prototype — a device for producing fuel for fusion reactors.
🔬 Development will take place at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The device will test 'breeding blanket' technology, which generates tritium from liquid lithium.
🚀 Data from Unity-3 will help other startups (Realta Fusion, Thea Energy, etc.) in reactor design, accelerating the development of fusion energy.
