On August 15, 2026, a large-scale military parade took place in Warsaw, timed to coincide with Polish Army Day. The event, which became the largest in the country's history in recent decades, demonstrated a significant increase in the republic's military potential and its integration into NATO's defense structure. The parade took place along the main Wisłostrada avenue, where approximately 2,000 servicemen and over 300 units of modern combat equipment marched before the spectators.

Scale of modernization and participation of allies

The central element of the parade was the demonstration of the latest weapons samples purchased as part of the Polish army modernization program. On the ground, spectators saw M1 Abrams and K2 Black Panther tanks, as well as Rosomak armored personnel carriers. The air component of the parade included AW149 and Apache helicopters, F-16 fighters, and the newest F-35s, the first of which the country received in May 2026. Along with Polish pilots, NATO allied aircraft flew in the sky — German Eurofighter Typhoons and A400M transporters.

The parade became a symbol of collective security. Columns of military personnel from the USA, Britain, Canada, Croatia, Romania, as well as the French Foreign Legion, marched by. Special attention was paid to the participation of multinational formations: soldiers of the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian Brigade (LITPOLUKRBRIG) from Lublin marched in the formation, highlighting the strategic partnership of the countries of the region.

Diplomatic aspect and symbolic gestures

Among the guests of honor on the podium was Andrzej Pochobut, a Polish minority activist released from Belarusian detention, which became a gesture of support for human rights and political prisoners. Navy parade in Gdynia

Parallel to the ground parade in Warsaw, a naval parade took place in the waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk. Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates, the "Kashub" corvette, minehunters, and landing ships took part in it. In the air over the sea, Bryza aircraft, AW101 helicopters, and the Saab 340 AEW&C long-range radar aircraft maneuvered, demonstrating the Polish Navy's ability to control the maritime space.

Cybersecurity and technological sovereignty

An important aspect of modern Polish defense strategy remains cybersecurity. After a tough stance by the Polish side and threats to review million-dollar contracts, Elon Musk met Warsaw's requirements regarding the use of Starlink. This allowed for stable access to satellite communications to be maintained and the country to be returned to the single European roaming zone of the service, which is critical for the functioning of military communications.
