In the night of August 16, 2026, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to a massive strike by the Russian armed forces. The State Emergency Service (SES) released footage of the aftermath of the attack, capturing the work of firefighters and rescuers. Major destruction and fires were recorded in the Obolon and Holosiivskyi districts of the city.

According to the rescue service, the most serious damage was inflicted in the Obolon district. In the footage published by the SES, fire crews can be seen working at a large market where a major fire occurred. In another part of the Obolon district, the blast wave from an impact caused minor damage to a residential building. Fortunately, in this case, a fire was avoided. At another address in the district, debris from exploding munitions hit a non-residential building, damaging the infrastructure.

Situation in Holosiivskyi District and Casualties

A fire was also recorded in the Holosiivskyi district on the territory of non-residential construction. According to operational services, the fire in this district has already been contained, and extinguishing work is in the final stages. At the moment, two people have been injured in the attack on Kyiv. Information about their health status and the exact circumstances of their injuries continues to be clarified.

The attack on Kyiv became part of a coordinated strike on several regions of Ukraine. At the same time, reports of explosions came from Poltava and Dnipro, while Kryvyi Rih was under a combined attack by ballistic missiles and drones.
