Critical Strike on Strategic Positions in Crimea
On the night of August 16, 2026, the Ukrainian Navy conducted a large-scale operation on the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. According to official data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the main target of the attack was the launch positions and deployment site of the Russian coastal missile complex (CMC) 'Bastion' in the area of the settlement Rezervne. The military department confirmed that the enemy suffered significant losses in equipment and personnel as a result of the strike, although exact figures are being refined during the analysis of intelligence data.
Importance of Destroying Scarce Weaponry
Representatives of the Ukrainian Navy emphasized the strategic importance of eliminating the 'Bastion' complex. This is expensive and scarce weaponry, which Russian occupiers actively use to strike southern regions of Ukraine. From the launchers of this complex, both supersonic 'Onyx' missiles and hypersonic 'Zircon' missiles are launched, posing a serious threat to the country's infrastructure and population. The destruction or damage of such complexes significantly reduces the enemy's ability to conduct missile attacks from the territory of the peninsula.
Strikes on Logistics and Rear Areas in Southern Ukraine
The operation on the night of August 16 was not limited to Crimea alone. Ukrainian defense forces simultaneously struck key logistics and supply objects on occupied territories in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. In particular, a railway bridge in the area of Svitlodarsk in the Zaporizhzhia region was attacked, which Russian troops use to move personnel and military equipment. In addition, warehouses of material and technical resources and ammunition in the settlement of Karlivka in the Donetsk region were hit, which will deal a blow to the supply of the enemy's forward units.
Continuation of the Campaign to Degrade Russian Infrastructure
This attack is a continuation of a series of strikes on military objects in the south. Just four days ago, on August 12, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 'Saky' airfield in the Novofedorivka area. At that time, the control tower was hit, where the data collection and processing center for 'Orion' and 'Outpost' reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles functioned. The systematic striking of such objects indicates that the Ukrainian side has seized the initiative in the struggle for control over the air and sea space in the region.
