The logistics infrastructure of Russia's largest marketplace, Wildberries, has become the target of a massive drone attack. Strikes were carried out on warehouse complexes in two regions: in the town of Chekhov in the Moscow region and in the settlement of Krasny Bor in the Leningrad region. The incidents resulted in casualties and significant material damage.
Tragedy in Chekhov
In the Moscow region, the drone attack on Wildberries warehouse facilities in the city of Chekhov resulted in a fire in the private sector. According to regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov, five people were killed as a result of the incident. Another six injured people sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity. The situation in the Chekhov area remains tense, and work to eliminate the consequences of the fire is ongoing.
Strike on the Leningrad Region
The second strike hit the settlement of Krasny Bor in the Tosnensky district of the Leningrad region. Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed damage to the warehouse zone. During the attack, 17 drones were shot down. Preliminary data indicates that one person was injured. Several large logistics complexes are located in Krasny Bor, including a Wildberries facility covering 154,000 square meters.
Systemic nature of attacks
According to Forbes, attacks on Wildberries facilities are systematic. Over the past two weeks, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have almost daily struck the marketplace's logistics network. At present, at least 17% of the company's warehouse space has been destroyed. This threatens the uninterrupted operation of the country's largest trading platform.
Search for new capacities
Against the backdrop of ongoing attacks, it has become known that Wildberries is actively seeking logistics capacity outside Russia. In particular, the company is considering the possibility of locating warehouses in Kazakhstan. This could become part of a strategy to diversify the logistics network and reduce risks associated with military actions.
