On Friday, July 17, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made key personnel decisions in the spheres of defense and foreign policy. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi officially announced the appointment of acting ministers, a move intended to respond to current challenges and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of state structures.

New faces in the government

By agreement with the President, Yevhen Khmara has been appointed Acting Minister of Defense. Andriy Sibiga has assumed the role of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister emphasized that these appointments are designed to guarantee continuity of work in areas critical to the state.

Particular attention was paid to the functional tasks of the new leadership. Specifically, regarding Yevhen Khmara, it was noted that his duties extend beyond issues solely related to strikes against the Russian Federation. This implies a comprehensive approach to managing the defense sector.

Structural reform of ministries

Alongside personnel changes, Serhiy Koretskyi announced a large-scale reorganization of the government structure, which will be carried out in accordance with parliamentary decisions. The main changes will affect the following areas:

  • Restoration of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy: The return of a separate body responsible for the agrarian sector and food security.
  • Creation of a new ministry: The formation of the Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Internally Displaced Persons to address social and administrative issues.
  • Separation of functions: A clear delineation of the directions of economy, environment, and recovery, as well as infrastructure and transport.

These steps demonstrate the government's desire to adapt management mechanisms to the realities of wartime and the tasks of post-war reconstruction.
