The Chernihiv MA reported that the city was massively attacked by the Russian armed forces. In local social media groups, residents noted that about ten explosions rang out within the city limits in just ten minutes, and, according to their reports, several jet-powered drones continued to circle over Chernihiv. Official agencies confirmed the fact of the attack and began gathering information on the aftermath.

As of the time of writing, the MA reported two injured. The agency emphasized that the consequences of the enemy attack are still being clarified, so the final figures on the number of injured and the extent of the damage may change. Emergency services are continuing to work at the strike sites.

"Chernihivoblenergo" reported that an energy facility was damaged as a result of the shelling. More than 30,000 customers in Chernihiv district and the city of Slavutych were left without electricity. The company stated that energy workers would begin inspecting the equipment and carrying out restoration work as soon as the security situation allows.

The August 25 attack became a repeat blow to the city within two days. The day before, on August 24, a Russian drone hit a multi-story residential building in the center of Chernihiv. Head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration (RSA), Vyacheslav Chaus, reported that 20 people were injured at that time, including two children. An RBC-Ukraine correspondent showed the state of the damaged building, and the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv Oblast, Vladimir Tymoshko, gave details of that strike. Thus, these are two separate events with different numbers of casualties: 20 people on August 24 and, according to preliminary data, two people on August 25.

Against the backdrop of the ongoing attack and the presence of jet-powered drones in the air, restoration work at the damaged energy facility is not yet possible.
