In Kyiv, vestibule No. 1 at the Chernihivska metro station will resume operations on October 23, 2026, with an exit toward the Darnytsia station. This was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration following the mitigation of consequences from the nighttime massive shelling of the capital.
Resumption of Vestibule Operations
According to the city administration, the first vestibule of the Chernihivska metro station will begin welcoming passengers from 5:31 AM to 11:27 PM. Residents will be able to use the exit toward the Darnytsia station for their regular commutes on the red subway line.
At the same time, the facility's second vestibule, located in the direction of the Lisova station, remains closed for passenger traffic for now. Specialized services continue necessary restoration measures at this infrastructure section.
Consequences of the Nighttime Attack
The Chernihivska station sustained severe damage as a result of the massive shelling of Kyiv using ballistic missiles, which occurred on the night of October 19. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged the building's facade, stained glass windows, and passenger platform.
Furthermore, the enemy attack disabled track infrastructure elements, including rails, the contact rail, and key power supply and train traffic control systems. Specialists urgently began repair work immediately after rescue operations were completed.
Significance of Partial Opening for the Capital's Transport Network
The partial restoration of operations at the Chernihivska station is of great importance for the transport logistics of Kyiv's left bank and for easing passenger congestion on the red metro line. Restoring service through one of the key vestibules helps bring stability back to public transport movement following recent infrastructural destruction.
