From September 11, 2026, the duration of the curfew is being shortened across the entire territory of Chernivtsi Oblast. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Ruslan Osypenko, head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, the restrictive regime will be in effect from 01:00 to 04:00 instead of the previous 23:00–04:00. As a result, the length of the curfew in the region is being reduced from five to three hours. The changes take effect the day after the announcement is published, that is, already on September 11.
The essence of the changes and the new time frame
The key change concerns the time window itself: instead of the five-hour nighttime regime that had been in effect from 23:00 to 04:00, a three-hour curfew from 01:00 to 04:00 is being introduced in the oblast. This means that the main part of the night — from 23:00 to 01:00 — will fall outside the restrictive regime. At the same time, as the oblast administration emphasizes, shortening the duration does not cancel the requirements of martial law: all other restrictions established under this regime remain in force.
Rules of movement and special passes
Along with the schedule change, the oblast has determined the rules of movement during the curfew for employees of enterprises, institutions, and organizations that ensure the region's life-sustaining functions. In particular, this refers to staff responsible for feeding students in general education institutions. Their movement during curfew hours will be permitted only with special passes, which will be issued by the Chernivtsi Oblast Commandant's Office in accordance with the established requirements.
Strengthened control and the position of the head of the RDA
In connection with the shortening of the curfew, representatives of the security and defense sector are required to strengthen control in public places, on the roads, and near critical infrastructure facilities. According to Ruslan Osypenko, such measures are necessary to prevent provocations and violations of public safety, as well as to promptly detect and prevent the sabotage activities of enemy agents. The head of the RDA called on the residents of Bukovina and the oblast's guests to comply with the established safety rules and reminded them that the curfew regime may be revised in the event of a deterioration in the situation.
Context: what is happening in other regions
The changes in Chernivtsi Oblast fit into a broader trend of adjusting the curfew in certain regions of Ukraine. Earlier, the duration of the restrictive regime was shortened in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast — there the curfew is now in effect from 01:00 to 05:00, and in the capital the metro operating schedule was additionally revised, extending its hours, and night buses running from the Central Railway Station to residential areas were introduced. Similar adjustments, according to open sources, are also being discussed in other oblasts, indicating a regional approach to calibrating restrictive measures depending on the local situation.
What this means for residents and guests of the oblast
For ordinary residents and guests of Chernivtsi Oblast, the practical effect is that from 23:00 to 01:00 the nighttime hours become free of the curfew, and the restriction itself is compressed to three hours. At the same time, the obligation to comply with the requirements of martial law remains, and workers in critical sectors must obtain special passes from the Commandant's Office. Regional authorities have explicitly warned that the regime may be tightened again if the security situation worsens, so the recommendation to pay constant attention to official statements from the RDA and the Commandant's Office remains in force.
