The Pension Fund of Ukraine has reminded employers of the need to submit documents by October 31, 2026, to finance additional paid leave of 16 calendar days for citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster in the next fiscal year.
Who Is Eligible for the Special Leave
The right to additional paid leave is stipulated by Articles 20, 21, and 30 of the Law of Ukraine on the Status and Social Protection of Citizens Affected by the Chernobyl Disaster. This social guarantee is provided at the primary place of employment for citizens belonging to categories affected by the Chornobyl accident. The duration of such leave is 14 working days or 16 calendar days annually.
Procedure and Deadlines for Financing 2027 Leave
To ensure the payment of compensation and the financing of such leaves in 2027, policyholders are required to apply to the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in advance. All necessary documents must be submitted to the PFU strictly by October 31, 2026, inclusively. Failure to meet the established deadlines may lead to delays in receiving funds for employer compensation.
Additional Social Support Measures
In addition to the right to annual additional leave, legislation provides other types of assistance for citizens affected by the consequences of the accident. In particular, non-working pensioners who permanently reside in the zone of unconditional or guaranteed voluntary resettlement are receiving a monthly pension supplement of 2,595 hryvnias in the current year 2026.
Significance of Timely Document Submission
Timely submission of reporting and applications to the Pension Fund guarantees uninterrupted financing of the state's social obligations to affected citizens. Employers are advised not to postpone the procedure of forming the package of documents until the last days of October to avoid potential bureaucratic obstacles when planning budgets for 2027.
