On the daytime of August 27, 2026, Russia carried out a series of drone and artillery strikes on several Ukrainian cities. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Nikopol, and Kherson came under fire. According to RBC-Ukraine, at least two waves of drone attacks were recorded in the capital during the day; in Kharkiv, a shopping center was hit; in Nikopol, artillery damaged civilian facilities in the city center; and in Kherson, a thermal power plant was critically destroyed. Below is a summary of the confirmed consequences as of the time of publication.

Kyiv: Series of Strikes and Debris in Residential Areas

Around 10:10 in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district, a car caught fire as a result of an attack; the fire was extinguished, and one person was injured. Around noon, the capital came under a secondary drone attack — air defense systems were activated again and explosions were heard. In the Pecherskyi district, drone debris fell in a forest-park area, causing a grass and tree fire that was put out by rescuers. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell near one of the schools, damaging the building's windows. In the Obolonskyi district, debris landed on the territory of residential buildings, a park, a parking lot, and a garage cooperative — with no fire or casualties. In the Podilskyi district, debris fell on the territory of a kindergarten and near an unoccupied building. As of 15:30, four injured people were known in Kyiv.

Contradictory Data

Social media posted reports at the time of the attack about a direct drone hit near the "Dynamo" stadium area and footage of smoke over the sports complex. However, later information emerged that the stadium itself was not damaged. Thus, the version of a direct hit on the stadium was not confirmed, and the only recorded facts remain the debris and local fires in other districts of the city.

Kharkiv: Strike on the "Episenter" Shopping Center

During the day, Russian troops attacked the "Episenter" shopping center in Kharkiv's Osnovyanskyi district. Preliminary data indicates that a "Geran-4 Siker" type drone was used. As a result, one man was killed, and three women and two men were injured. The building sustained damage: partial structural destruction and a fire covering an area of about 300 square meters were recorded.

Nikopol: Artillery Shelling of the Center

Russia struck the center of Nikopol with artillery. Educational institutions, shops, cafes, banks, and cars were damaged. Of the five injured, three were hospitalized, two of them in serious condition; two more people were treated on site.

Kherson: Critical Strike on the TPP

Russian troops attacked the Kherson TPP of the "Naftogaz Group." A strike was delivered to the station's territory with four guided aerial bombs (GABs) at once. Critical destruction is reported: all remaining heat-generating and power-generating equipment at the station was completely destroyed and taken out of service. The context of the attack is consistent with warnings from Ukrainian officials about the risks of massive strikes on infrastructure on this day.
