Defense Forces Strike MiG-29 at Millerovo Airfield, EW Systems and Warehouses in the Russian Rear

On August 24 and during the night of August 25, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of important military facilities of the Russian occupiers in their rear, on the temporarily occupied territories, and on the territory of Russia. This was announced by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. The targets included enemy aviation, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and warehouse facilities. The extent of the damage inflicted, according to the department, is currently being assessed.

Targets in the Rear: Aviation, EW and Warehouses

According to the General Staff's statement, during the specified period the defense forces struck several categories of targets, including electronic countermeasure systems and the enemy's material and technical bases. The destruction of EW systems is of particular importance, as these systems are used by the occupiers to counter the operation of Ukrainian drones and communications equipment. Strikes on warehouses, in turn, are aimed at undermining the logistical support of the troop grouping on the temporarily occupied territories.

Based on the analysis of available data, the successful strike on enemy aviation on the territory of Russia has been confirmed. In particular, on August 24 a MiG-29 fighter was damaged at the Millerovo military airfield in Rostov Oblast. Such strikes on ground-based aviation demonstrate the capability of Ukrainian forces to hit strategically important targets deep in the enemy's rear, reducing its aviation potential.

Strikes on the Oil and Gas Sector

In addition to military targets, during the night of August 25 the Defense Forces struck two objects of Russia's oil and gas industry. The Afipsky and Astrakhan gas processing plants came under fire. Moreover, on the same day a large-scale fire broke out at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (AGCC), which is under construction. The combination of these events points to a sustained line of strikes on the energy and industrial infrastructure of the Russian Federation.

Damage Assessment and Further Developments

The General Staff emphasizes that the extent of the damage inflicted on the occupiers is being assessed. This means that final data on the scale of destruction at each of the listed targets will be published as the analysis is completed. In the coming days, additional information on the results of the strikes and on which specific systems and facilities were taken out of operation is expected.
