In Ukraine, the procedure for renewing deferment from conscription for military personnel has been simplified. The Ministry of Defense of the country announced important changes that will allow citizens to legally change the basis for obtaining deferment without the risk of being mobilized during bureaucratic procedures.

Security guarantee when changing the basis

According to information received by RBK-Ukraine from the Ministry of Defense, a submitted application for the renewal of deferment does not terminate the current one. This key change guarantees that a citizen will not be mobilized during the period while state authorities are reviewing their documents.

Corresponding changes to the legislation were adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers. Now, an application for renewal can be submitted if a military personnel member has a new legal basis provided for by Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization".

Digitalization and the "Oberyg" registry

The department emphasized that these innovations are aimed at making the procedure for granting and renewing deferments more digital and transparent. The focus is on the automation of processes and the correct entry of information into the state registry "Oberyg".

Recall that back in July, the country launched a mechanism for the automatic extension of deferments. If the basis for exemption from conscription remains valid and is confirmed by data from state registries, most military personnel no longer need to submit new applications to extend the validity of the deferment.

New features in the "Rezerv+" app

Alongside the simplification of bureaucracy, the functionality of the state application "Rezerv+" has been expanded. Now, users can submit applications for vacancies in the Defense Forces of Ukraine, for which new contracts are concluded. An important condition of such contracts is the guaranteed right to deferment from mobilization after their completion.
