Starting in 2025, significant changes will come into force in Ukraine regarding the distribution of state payments to families with children. Now, all benefits related to childbirth, childcare, and other support programs will be directed to a special account within the Diia.Card service — 'Care for a Child'.
What parents need to know
According to official data, to continue receiving payments, it is necessary to open the corresponding account. This can be done directly when submitting an application for certain services through the 'Diia' app.
The 'Diia' service emphasizes that henceforth, state payments for children will be credited exclusively to the special 'Care for a Child' account. Parents are advised to take care of opening it in advance so that the process of receiving financial assistance is not interrupted.
The 'eYasla' program and other support measures
Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported on the launch of the state program 'eYasla', which provides monthly payments to parents of children aged 1 to 3 years. The amount of the benefit can reach 8,000 or 12,000 hryvnias depending on the category of the recipient. Funds are allowed to be spent only on specific needs related to the development and upbringing of the child.
Legislative basis and prospects for reform
The Cabinet of Ministers has registered a bill in the Verkhovna Rada on the reform of the child protection system. The document provides for a significant increase in payments for guardians, foster families, and family-type children's homes. A new one-time assistance is also introduced for placing a child in a family, as well as a number of changes in the field of adoption, the work of child services, and the protection of their rights.
These measures are aimed at creating a more transparent and effective system of support for families with children, as well as simplifying access to state services through digital platforms.
