On the evening of October 12, 2026, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack using "Banderol"-type drones against peaceful residential neighborhoods in Kharkiv. The Kholodnohirskyi district of the city came under fire, with several severe impacts recorded. As a result of the attack, infrastructure, housing stock, and civilians caught in the epicenter of the nighttime shelling were severely damaged.

Details of the Attack on Kholodnohirskyi District

According to local authorities, around 9:00 PM, the invaders began striking residential areas. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhof and Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, promptly reported on the consequences of the enemy aggression. One of the enemy drones hit a multi-apartment residential building, causing an entire entrance of a five-story structure to completely collapse. A massive fire broke out at the impact site.

Destruction and Casualties

Currently, emergency services confirm information about five injured individuals who are receiving all necessary medical assistance at the scene or in medical facilities. Several people experienced acute stress reactions. State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers are conducting a search and rescue operation, as people may still be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed entrance. In addition, as a result of other impacts in the area, more than six private houses and neighboring buildings were damaged.

Contradictory Data

During the operational coverage of events, discrepancies arose between initial and updated data from specialized agencies regarding the scale of destruction and the number of victims. In the first minutes after the strikes, information mainly concerned hits to the private sector and a small number of victims with acute stress reactions. Later, the situation sharply escalated: it turned out that one of the drones destroyed the entrance of a multi-story building, and the number of wounded increased to five people, while data on the exact number of people under the rubble is being clarified and may change as rescue services clear the debris.

Recovery and General Situation

City and regional services have been mobilized to eliminate the consequences of the tragedy. SES units, medics, and volunteers are working at the impact sites. It is worth noting that the city has been subjected to strikes not for the first time in recent days: a day earlier, residential areas and the suburbs of Kharkiv were also under shelling, which indicates systematic terror against the civilian population by the Russian Federation.
