DTEK and Metinvest Launch Large-Scale Modernization of 250 Ukrainian Educational Institutions: Launch of the Modern Learning Spaces Project

In August 2026, a new large-scale stage of educational reform began in Ukraine, aimed at fundamentally changing the approach to learning. The country's largest industrial players — the energy holding DTEK and the metallurgical company Metinvest — have officially joined the implementation of the Modern Learning Spaces project. As part of this initiative, capital repair and equipping of modern STEM classrooms and laboratories have begun in 250 academic lyceums located in 22 regions of Ukraine.

The implementation of such an ambitious plan became possible thanks to close partnership between the state and big business. DTEK and Metinvest provide financial and organizational support to the project, having joined the work of the Implementation Support Team. The Eastern Europe Foundation plays an important role in the project's success, taking on the functions of a coordinator. The Foundation ensures methodological support, attracts experts, and exercises strict quality control of the implementation of work on the ground, guaranteeing that investments will be used as efficiently as possible.

Strategic Goal: Workforce Preparation for the Economy

The Modern Learning Spaces project is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine as part of the LEARN program, which is carried out jointly with the World Bank. The strategic goal of the initiative is to create infrastructure capable of training more engineering and technical specialists. In conditions where the economy requires highly qualified personnel in the fields of energy, IT, and industry, support from giants like DTEK becomes a key factor for success. The company already has experience supporting veterans through the "ProVeteran" program, training them to work in the field of solar energy, which confirms their commitment to the development of human capital.
