In the Zakarpattia region, law enforcement agencies are conducting large-scale investigative actions aimed at uncovering corruption schemes in the field of military registration. The focus of the investigation is the Mukachevo Territorial Center for Mobilization and Social Support (TCMSS).
Large-scale searches in Mukachevo
According to local media citing sources in law enforcement agencies, operatives have arrived to conduct searches at the residences of the individuals involved in the case. The investigation is examining the circumstances of the possible illegal removal of men from military registration at the Mukachevo TCMSS and the military-medical commission (MMC).
According to preliminary data obtained during investigative actions, this is a systemic problem. Some of the men who were illegally removed from military registration subsequently left the territory of Ukraine. This creates serious risks for the mobilization security of the region.
Contradictory data
Different sources provide different estimates of the scale of the incident. While some sources report on the verification of facts of illegal removal without specifying exact figures, other media outlets, in particular Reporter UA, provide specific data: according to them, about 500 people illegally removed from registration have already left the country. Official confirmation or refutation of this figure by the General Prosecutor's Office or the SBU has not yet been published.
Context: "Honest Draft" operation and other high-profile cases
The events in Zakarpattia are not an isolated case. They fit into the general picture of the fight against corruption in the mobilization system. At the end of July, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted a large-scale special operation "Honest Draft".
As part of this operation, searches were conducted in more than 100 TCMSSs across the country. Investigators were looking for evidence of bribery to evade mobilization, as well as facts of beating and cruel treatment of citizens in recruitment centers.
Previously, high-profile cases have already been recorded in the Zakarpattia region. RBC-Ukraine reported on the completion of an investigation against an employee of one of the local TCMSSs, who is accused of torture. According to the investigation, the man was handcuffed to a metal ladder and left overnight. The indictment has already been submitted to the court, and the suspect faces up to six years in prison.
Significance of the investigation
The current searches at the Mukachevo TCMSS demonstrate that the law enforcement system continues to work to identify "gray" schemes for evading service. Identifying channels of illegal removal and subsequent emigration of military personnel is critical for ensuring the mobilization resources of the army.
