In the Russian information space, a fabricated news story is actively circulating claiming that one of Kyiv's universities is allegedly recruiting students for the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, as experts have found, this information has no basis and is part of a targeted disinformation campaign.
Disinformation from Russian Telegram channels
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), Russian Telegram channels are publishing fake messages claiming that Ukrainian universities are allegedly recruiting students for service in USF units. Experts emphasize that such statements are completely contrary to reality.
"This photo is fake. The image does not match the style of USF recruitment posters and communication channels. Also, the admission campaign has just begun, so the lists of admitted students shown in the photo do not exist in reality yet," the CCD statement reads.
Goals of Russian propaganda
CCD specialists explain that such information leaks are part of a large-scale disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian education system and Defense Forces. The main goal of such fakes is to sow distrust in state institutions and provoke panic among the population.
"In fact, it is the Kremlin that recruits Russian students into its own unmanned systems forces, in particular by applying active pressure, manipulation, and coercion," the Center added.
Call for critical thinking
Ukrainians are urged to approach information disseminated by anonymous Telegram channels critically and to verify it through official sources. It is important not to contribute to the spread of Russian information operations, which can damage public trust and stability.
Experts remind that in the conditions of modern information warfare, every user must be attentive and responsible when evaluating incoming data. Only in this way can one resist manipulation and maintain objectivity in perceiving events.
