As of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the domestic market of Ukraine is experiencing relative stability in the segment of basic food products. Despite global economic challenges affecting inflation expectations, price equilibrium is being maintained for most items in the largest retail chains. Experts note that the current situation is characterized by targeted changes: while some product categories remain unchanged, others are seeing local price reductions thanks to promotional offers from retailers.
Stability in the bread and grains category
Full price stability has been recorded in the bakery segment. According to price monitoring conducted in the largest chains, the cost of bread and pastries remained at the level of the previous day. This indicates that manufacturers and retailers have managed to balance production costs and retail markups without passing expenses on to consumers in the short term.
In the grains category, the 'Silpo' chain remains the undisputed leader for the lowest price. This is where a promotional offer on buckwheat with a 15% discount is active, making it the most accessible for buyers. In other retail chains, the cost of a kilogram of buckwheat remains unchanged, holding steady at the level of previous weeks.
Price dynamics for eggs and dairy products
In the egg category, which traditionally serves as an indicator of the population's purchasing power, noticeable changes have occurred. The 'Auchan' chain has taken the leading position for the lowest price on individual sales: the cost of one Category C1 egg dropped to 3.00 UAH. This means that a dozen eggs now cost 30.00 UAH, which is 1.00 UAH cheaper than the day before.
However, for buyers who prefer packaged products, the ATB chain remains a profitable option, holding the best price on dozen packs thanks to a current promotion. 'Silpo' also offers an alternative Category C1 position, allowing consumers to choose the optimal option depending on the purchase volume.
In the dairy products segment, specifically for portion packs of 400-450 g, minimum prices are maintained in the ATB and 'Silpo' chains. Meanwhile, the Novus chain continues to hold a favorable price on ultra-pasteurized milk in larger volumes, offering special conditions within its delivery service.
Change of leader in the sunflower oil market
In the category of refined sunflower oil, which is one of the key items in the Ukrainian diet, there has been a change in the leader for the lowest price tag. The cheapest position in a 0.5 L volume is now offered by the 'Auchan' chain. This change may be related to updated supplies or the launch of a new marketing campaign.
A discount on oil is also active in the 'Silpo' chain, creating a competitive environment and forcing other chains to review their pricing strategies. Buyers have gained the opportunity to save on one of the most in-demand essential goods.
