The Security Service of Ukraine conducted a successful special operation in the capital, detaining an 18-year-old agent of the Russian FSB. The perpetrator attempted to register and activate 148 satellite Starlink terminals, which Russian occupying forces planned to use to coordinate combat operations on the frontline, specifically in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions.

Background and Recruitment of the Agent

According to the investigation, the task from Russian handlers was carried out by a former student of a capital college. After completing his studies, the young man began actively searching for quick and easy earnings in various Telegram channels. A career officer of the Russian Federal Security Service noticed his posts and activity, recruiting the teenager to perform subversive and reconnaissance tasks in the rear of Ukraine.

Details of the Criminal Scheme

Acting on instructions from the Russian special service, the suspect managed to register 15 satellite internet terminals using the passports of his relatives and acquaintances. In addition, he prepared fake and proxy registration data for another 133 devices. The SBU tracked down the perpetrator and detained him red-handed near one of the city's post offices while he was attempting to receive and activate a new batch of equipment.

Contradictory Data

During the initial coverage of the operation in various official and regional sources, minor discrepancies emerged regarding the interpretation of the detainee's age and social status. While some publications emphasized that he was a former student of a Kyiv college, other media highlighted his underage status at the time of recruitment, although investigative bodies clearly confirmed his 18-year-old age and full legal capacity.

Consequences and Legal Qualification

Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine served the detainee with an official notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason committed under martial law. Currently, the court has chosen detention without the right to bail as a preventive measure. The sanction of the article provides for the strictest punishment up to life imprisonment with confiscation of all property.
